HIPPY 20TH YEAR

Montgomery Public Schools’ HIPPY program celebrated 20 years in Montgomery at its 20th annual picnic on May 7, 2014. It was indeed a time for celebration. HIPPY began in Montgomery with one coordinator and four parent educators. The first program began in October 1993, in the now demolished Riverside Height housing project and the Smiley Court housing project. The Smiley program still continues today. The Riverside property was purchased my Maxwell Air Force Base.

HIPPY Montgomery has undergone many changes, and it is back to one coordinator, as it was in October 1993. However it boasts four full time parent educators and six part time serving seven areas in the city. We have a three, four and five year old program.

We look forward to a bright future for our HIPPY families and Montgomery.
