A Pre-K Teacher’s Reflections

I am currently an Alabama First Class Pre-K teacher. I hold a B.S. in Elementary Ed. with adequate course work to allow me to teach in an Early Childhood classroom. I have been teaching 4’s and 5’s for 7 years years now. During this time I have seen how great parenting and a rich, sound home environment can boost a child’s chances for success! Unfortunately I have also seen what can happen when a child is not exposed to great parenting. I have seen single parents provide great experiences for their child, even under the conditions of poverty and with educational disadvantages. Likewise I have seen children from a more privileged background being left to discover life by watching television. I have always felt that if we could educate parents on how to educate their children then we would be on the right track. From researching HIPPY I think that is what you are doing!
