My grandson was in HIPPY and is now in a magnet school in Montgomery. His sister also enrolled in HIPPY at age 3. During her first year, I began to see changes in her personality. She began to talk and interact more. She called going to the group meetings going to her school. Because she has a medical problem, I thought she could not go to pre-k. At the end of the year, the coordinator encouraged me to put her in the MPS pre-k program. Because she had spent so much time in the hospital and not much interaction with other children. Well she got in and is going to first grade in a few weeks. She can read, count and write. I give HIPPY all the credit. They brought my granddaughter out of her shell. Now she too has been accepted into a magnet school!
